Oricon: “Kyary interviews manba gyaru for new episode of her TV show”
Published February 27, 2013
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who has catapulted from being a Harajuku ‘charisma model’ to a national star, will be appearing on-screen with Gehako-chan, known throughout Harajuku and Shibuya for being the ‘last and strongest manba gyaru’.
In the 5th episode of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s television program “Kyary Pamyu Pamyu TV JOHN!” (Me~ TV), which is irregularly broadcast in the Tokai region, the two models transform both inside and out into angels on a set made to look like heaven. Kyary and Gehako-chan will talk about multiple topics spanning from Kyary’s trip to Europe, their styles of fashion, and even their differences in values.
Filming for the episode took place inside a studio, on a set made by genius art director Masuda Sebastian. The 500 stuffed animals strewn about the set were collected from many different places. In this segment, the two women will pretend that they’ve passed on at 100 years old and are now reflecting back on their 20s, giving Kyary the opportunity to talk about her European tour which was held in February. Since the idea is that they are 100 years old, Kyary will speak using the words and phrases an old woman would.
Kyary also filmed clips for the program during her Belgium-Paris-London tour, so this episode will show what those overseas fans are like. Additionally, Kyary carried out an original project titled ‘Kyary Antoinette’ using Paris’ Monmatre as the setting. The daring project involves Kyary dressed as Marie Antoinette, walking around the city of Paris and wondering if anyone knows about her necklace.
Don’t miss her crazy Kyary Antoinette, her exchanges with Paris natives, or Kyary going along with the joke when Parisians bring her something other than her necklace when “Kyary Pamyu Pamyu TV JOHN! The French Revolution ~Hell’s Fish and Chips~” airs on March 14th at 12:20 AM.
