Model Press: Kyary’s grueling schedule met with voices of concern

Artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu performed at the Tokyo Runway 2013 Spring/Summer on March 20^th at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, and answered questions in a press conference afterwards.

Kyary performed her newly released song ‘Ninja Re Bang Bang’ and ‘Tsukema Tsukeru’. “I was able to enjoy myself, being able to dance the choreography together with everyone,” she said with a smile. Kyary is in the midst of her world tour which demands a grueling schedule of her. When Kyary was barraged with questions about her health from the press, she responded energetically, “I’ve been trying hard so that I don’t get worn out by my concerts for the time being. I’m perfectly healthy! There are some things that are difficult about the food overseas, but I’ve been sleeping properly and get days off as well.”

In March 2010, Kobe Collection in Tokyo - a fashion show featuring revolutionary girls’ fashion- changed its name to “Tokyo Runway”. This year marks its third year running. The fashion show included Hinano Yoshikawa, Yuri Ebihara, Moe Oshikiri, and Angelica Michibata for a total of 130 famous models and showcased performances by popular artist. This event spanned 8.5 hours and approximately 15,000 people were in attendance.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu performed on a colorful stage dressed in the same costume from the ‘Ninja Re Bang Bang’ PV. “It looks very ninja-y at first glance, but it incorporates modernness to it as well. My favorite thing is the headband, which gives off a Sailor Moon image,” she explained. The same song, with its strong Japanese ninja motif has had great success overseas. “Since I’ve never been to Hawaii before, I’d like to perform there. This one is a live house tour, but I’d like to work hard so I can gradually increase the scope of [my tours].”

When asked about what fashion item she would be looking forward to this spring, Kyary immediately responded with, “Pajamas. You can wake up and leave the house as you are, so I want there to be more stylish pajamas in the world.” This explanation caused the press to erupt in laughter.

Barks: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and 23 ninja dancers hold surprise performance at Tokyo Runway

On March 20, the same day as the release of her new single ‘Ninja Re Bang Bang’, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu performed as a secret guest at Tokyo Runway Spring/Summer alongside 23 back up dancers dressed as ninjas.

At 3PM, crowds of people simultaneously rushed to find seating at the sound of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s voice coming from the second stage. The stage lights illuminated the audience as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu clad in her colorful satin ninja costume and 8 dancers appeared on stage and marveled the audience.

After performing her hit song ‘Tsukema Tsukeru’, she greeted the audience warmly. “Good afternoon, guests of Tokyo Runway! I’m Kyary Pamyu Pamyu! Since today is the release day for ‘Ninja Re Bang Bang’, I’m here to entertain you dressed as a ninja! I’ve got something I want to dance with all of you!” After instructing the audience on the choreography, the performance began. In the midst of the performance, 15 elementary and middle school-aged children dressed as black ninjas rushed onto the stage to join the other dancers, making a total of 23 back up dancers on stage who entertained audiences at Asia’s most prominent fashion show.

Kobe Collection Spring/Summer 2012 marked the 10 year anniversary for the Kobe Collection fashion show. That year, in the way of Asia’s most prominent Real Close Fashion Show, Kobe Collection in Tokyo changed its name and Tokyo Runway was born. In its 1^st year there were 14,162 guests in attendance and in the next year, guest attendance increased to 15,824. Tokyo Runway is one of the most prominent fashion shows featuring a variety of girl’s fashion. In its 3^rd year running, splendid celebrities like Hinano Yoshikawa, Angelica Michibata, Rui Kurihara, and Koki Kameda made their first appearance at Tokyo Runway and dazzled audiences.
